It was pioneered in Italy, where a design student looked at the mountains of citrus peel her country's juice industry was throwing away and asked a simple question: why not turn it into fabric? A patented process later, cellulose is extracted from that leftover peel and spun into a soft, silky yarn — no orange grove required at the finish line.
Some versions are even infused with the natural oils and vitamin C still locked in the peel, so the fabric quite literally nourishes your skin while you wear it. Basically, a body lotion that also happens to be a dress.
